Bred for the Showring

We are a small farm in Felton, DE that raises crossbred market lambs, Suffolk breed sheep, and sell lambs to breeders and 4-H'ers for show.  We pride ourselves in the quality lambs raised on our farm.  They are successful in the showring and excellent producers.

We sold this ewe lamb at the 2007 Virginia Bred Ewe Sale.  She is sure to be an excellent producer.

A little News

As the year progresses, I will post new information and updates.

• 4-27-08 It has been a while since I updated.  Show season is upon us.  We will be sendin a few sheep down to the Willoughby Sale in Harrisonburg, VA on May 17th.  Two ram lambs, a ewe lamb, and one yearling ewe.  I will have pictures posted of them soon.  I hope to see you all at the upcoming shows and sales.
• Melling 118 is For Sale!!! 
• 2-25-2008 We finished lambing over the weekend with a grand total of 27 lambs.  Pictures of the lambs will be uploaded and viewable on March 3rd.  I apologize for not having them up sooner, but we all know how time can get away from us.  We will be taking a few ram lambs to the Old Dominion Wether Sire, Dam & Show Lamb Prospect Show & Sale on May 17th.  More info is available at www.willoughbylivestocksales.com.  Lambs can be viewed at the farm anytime, just let us know what you are looking for. 
  
• 1-21-2008 We have lambs hitting the ground at a constant pace now with some very promising wethers. 
• 1-14-2008  We have had our first set of lambs, born Friday morning.  We are very excited about the upcoming lamb crop, with high expectations.  We will be sure to post pictures in the coming weeks as the lambs hit the ground.  Check back soon!
• 11-5-2007  After much deliberation, we decided to sell "Rock Legend".  All of our ewe lambs were bred by this tremendous sire, and we are excited to see his offspring.  His lambs are sure to sell fast, and are headed for the showring.  Check back in early Feb. for lamb pictures. 
• 10-29-2007  The 2007 VA Bred Ewe Sale was quite a success for our first consignment there.  Our four ewes sold quite well and we came home with two excellent ewes from Virginia Tech, including the high selling ewe which we are very excited about.  Thanks goes out to all our buyers.
• 10-15-2007  The DE Livestock Expo was an exellent show.  There were many excellent sheep there sorted by a superb judge.  Our wether type suffolks placed well, but were beaten out by some excellent frame sheep.  Congrats to all!  Plans have changed...We will be taking a yearling ewe and 3 ewe lambs down to the VA Bred Ewe Sale, but we will not be travelling out to NAILE this year.
  
• 9-24-2007 "Rock Legend" has severely dislocated his right shoulder, and has been pulled off the ewes to prevent further injury.  Melling 118 has been introduced to our ewes and hasn't wasted any time.  Expect a large amount of Suffolk sired wethers for next show season. 
• 8-15-2007 We left the DE State Fair with multiple class wins and sale entries! Congratulations to Patrick Schlimer and the Fabi Family on their successful show season. We will be showing at the DE Livestock Expo in October as well as consigning a couple ewes to the VA Bred Ewe Sale.  We will be traveling out to NAILE and possibly KILE, as well as multiple sales this fall.  We hope to see you there!
